The CHUM, which comprises Hôtel-Dieu, Hôpital Notre-Dame and Hôpital Saint-Luc, is the most frequently visited hospital centre in the Greater Montreal Area. It is also one of the most important hubs in Quebec’s entire healthcare network.

Healthcare research is a core aspect of the CHUM’s mission. The CHUM Research Centre (CRCHUM) the largest medical research centre affiliated with Université de Montréal.
The CHUM: A leader in medical training
The CHUM is the largest medical training centre in Quebec. Every year, it accommodates nearly 5,000 students and trainees at college and university levels. It is responsible for training 50 % of Quebec's students in the field of health.
Health promotion at the CHUM
Health promotion is an integral aspect of the CHUM and its mission. The university centre’s department of health promotion (Direction de la promotion de la santé) makes sure that prevention is integrated into every dimension of the organization.
