Le Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM)

The CHUM today
Le Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) provides general, specialized and ultra-specialized medical care to patients in the immediate Montreal area and from other regions of Quebec as well. It is also a hub for medical teaching in Quebec and operates its own Research Centre. The CHUM’s fivefold care mission involving teaching, research, assessment of technologies and intervention methods in health, and health promotion is carried out in a context of integrated networks.
The new CHUM
The new CHUM is a 21st century hospital where the patient is the focal point of all activity. It bring together 3 major hospitals (Hôtel-Dieu, Notre-Dame and Saint-Luc) grouped around a new health nucleus where Saint Luc Hospital currently stands. Care and services are centred there to provide the best conditions for patient well-being. Other concerns include not only helping to introduce new teaching methods in the field and at patients’ bedsides, but also attracting and keeping the best of health professionals. The complex will include an ultra-modern research centre and a new teaching and training centre.
