Montréal, June 4, 2010 : In a joint ceremony on Thursday, June 3, in conjunction with the first Celebration of Teaching event (Fête de l’enseignement) at the Écomusée du fier monde, the CHUM teaching faculty and the Fondation du CHUM announced this year’s recipients of postdoctoral fellowships and the Prix Esculape Awards. The event was designed to recognize CHUM residents and other young healthcare professionals who have distinguished themselves as leaders in their respective fields, and to honour the dedication of the teaching physicians who have made the CHUM a leader in healthcare and medicine.
Postdoctoral fellowships
Postdoctoral fellowships support advanced specialization and promote the development of excellence on medical and healthcare teams. This year, the CHUM teaching faculty, and hospital departments and services joined forces with the Fondation and Council of Physicians, Dentists and Pharmacists (CMDP) to raise $1 million for this purpose. The money was awarded to the recipients in the form of fellowship bursaries. Congratulations to this year’s rising stars in medicine, public health and nursing science:

Prix Esculape Awards
The men and women who teach the next generation in medicine and exert a strong influence on hospital residents were also honoured at this event. The Fondation du CHUM and the Teaching Faculty presented 20 Prix Esculape Awards to highlight the contributions of these distinguished teaching physicians and specialists.
