The CRCHUM Challenge: Run or walk for research at the CRCHUM!

Montreal, February 9, 2010 - Sunday, April 18 is a good time to put on your running shoes and come run or walk for the CRCHUM Challenge! This activity, organized with the support of the Fondation du CHUM, will take place in Jean Drapeau Park as part of the Scotiabank Group Charity Challenge.

You have the option to either run or walk 5 km, or even enter the 21 km Half Marathon Championship, within a time limit of 3 hours. You can also support one of our runners by making a donation. Whatever distance or form of participation you choose, your support will help the CHUM Research Centre in its many activities dedicated to better health for people everywhere.

The Charity Challenge, which raises money for more than 25 charitable organizations, has been active in Montreal for the past two years. This year is the first time that the CRCHUM has been associated with the event. Remember, its success depends on you!

Why choose the CRCHUM?

Research is central to the CHUM and its mission. The CRCHUM is the largest medical research centre affiliated with the Université de Montréal. It includes more than 300 researchers and 400 students, many of whom are also physicians. Their work concentrates on the following research themes: cancer, cardiometabolic diseases, infection-immunity-inflammation, musculo-skeletal diseases, neuroscience, risks to health, and healthcare systems and services.

CRCHUM activities cover all types of research in the healthcare field: clinical, fundamental, evaluative and epidemiological. All these are intended to promote better health and prevent illness, as well as promote better treatment of diseases.
