With your initiative, your talent, your desire and your commitment...anything is possible!
Submit your project
Would you like to organize a fundraising event or a project to benefit the Fondation du CHUM? It’s very important for us to know in advance. You can organize a fundraising activity by yourself or with a group of friends, family members, co-workers...or members of your favourite club, sports team or cultural activities group. Please tell us what you’d like to do
Here are just a few ideas for fundraising activities:
- Art shows and exhibits
- Sidewalk sales (neighbourhood bazaar, crafts fair)
- Sports tournaments
- Auctions
- Suppers, dances, theme parties, Fashion shows
- Various “athons” (walkathon, skiathon, wash-athon, bowl-athon, etc.)
And much more...We’re sure you’ve got great ideas and plenty of creativity to share.
Here are some guidelines to help guarantee that your fundraiser is a real success. Please make sure to read and follow these steps:
- Create an organizing committee
To develop a successful fundraising activity, you’ll need to have a close-knit group of dedicated people who are prepared to invest their time. Put one of these people in charge of the fundraiser. - Brainstorm
Open your mind and put your imagination to work. Define the type of fundraising activity you want to organize, based on your interests, contacts, availability and financial goal. - Establish your financial objectives
Be realistic! You’ll find it helpful to follow the form. The section entitled “Projected budget” will help you identify possible sources of income (and possible expenses). - Identify your target group(s)
Who are you interested in soliciting for donations? Who is your activity for? - Set a date
Pick a date that will satisfy both your organizing committee and your target group(s). Remember that if two similar benefit events are held in the same region during the same period of time, they’ll each benefit only half as much. - Identify your needs
- Human resources
Will your activity need a master of ceremonies or an honorary chairperson? Determine how many volunteers you’ll need for planning, promotion, ticket sales and activities on the day of the event.
Example: If you need to sell tickets for your activity, make sure to have one person for every set of 10 tickets to be sold. - Materials and equipment
Does your activity require an audio system or other special technical equipment? What about tables, chairs, podiums, tents, etc.? - Location
Will you need a hall or a sports field? Think about its capacity, available parking and applicable safety standards. - Permit
If you’re organizing a draw or if you plan to serve alcoholic beverages at your event, you’ll have to get a permit. For more information, please visit the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux website.
- Human resources
- Promote your activity
If you want your event to succeed, promotion and visibility are essential. Once you get the Fondation du CHUM approval, you’ll be authorized to use the Fondation’s name and logo under certain conditions. Remember, however, that the Fondation must approve all promotional materials and communications items in advance, before they are posted or published. - Develop your plan and schedule
This step lets you figure out the times and dates you’ll need for each activity and the people you need to carry out the activities and related tasks. - Have your activity approved by the foundation
Please complete and sign the “Proposal for a Benefit Activity or Event” form and Agreement and send them to us. - Collect the money
Your fundraiser was a big success. Great work! Now we’ll ask you to forward the proceeds to us. All money collected by your fundraising activity must be turned over to the Fondation no later than 45 days after the activity ends. - Thank your supporters and partners
Be sure to thank everyone who supported you and contributed to your fundraiser’s success. Make sure you let them know how much money was raised.
Do a good deed and double the fun by using your talent and initiative to support our CHUM patients!
