Supporting excellence
Every year, the Fondation presents recognition awards to honour the work of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the CHUM. Over the years, these awards have gone to employees, doctors, volunteers and teams in one or more of the following categories:
- Homage for remarkable career
- Excellence
- Leadership and distinction in medicine
- Leadership and distinction in paramedical services
- Innovation and client service – Patient care and services sector
- Innovation and client service – Administration and support sector
- Volunteer service award
These awards are presented at the annual Benefit Evening at Salle Wilfred-Pelletier, Place des Arts, featuring well-known artists and entertainers.
Homage for a remarkable career
This award is in a category by itself. And indeed it was created as a special way of paying tribute to someone who is also in a class by himself. All humankind is indebted to him for his numerous scientific breakthroughs. His remarkable work has already earned some of the highest possible distinctions in his field. As a physician, as a researcher, as an outstanding teacher, he has contributed not only to the advancement of medical knowledge, but also to the growth and reputation of the CHUM worldwide, while continuing at the same time to treat his patients with the greatest care and respect.
Excellence award
This award is the crowning success for an outstanding career of a member of the CHUM team. The recipient is a man or woman of spirit and action, widely recognized for their talents and the scope of their achievements – a “builder” who has exerted a major influence on their community. A humanist who has proven their outstanding professional ability, devoted their career to the quality of healthcare treatment and services and contributed in a remarkable way to the welfare of the general public.
Award for leadership and distinction in medicine
This award recognizes the leadership and predominant role of a CHUM doctor working in a national or international scientific and university environment.
Award for leadership and distinction in paramedical services
This award highlights an outstanding contribution by a CHUM healthcare professional or group of professionals for distinguished achievement and leadership in one or more of the following areas: patient care, teaching, research or management.
Award for innovation and client service – Patient care and services sector
Presented to a team that has earned distinction through the innovative nature of their work and the quality of their patient services in terms of medical care or human relations within the CHUM community.
Award for innovation and client service – Administration and support sector
Presented to a department or team for introducing an innovative initiative or project that contributes to better service quality, more efficient management or technological advancements at the CHUM.
Volunteer service award
Celebrates the exceptional contributions of a volunteer whose commitment enhances the living environment and well-being of patients and their families.
