TD Bank Group makes an inspiring pledge<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Our brains process more than 10,000 thoughts and actions each day. Every second, the nervous system sends information from our sensory organs to the brain so we can be in constant contact with the world around us. When the brain falls ill, the entire body is affected. Epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer\u2019s disease and Parkinson\u2019s disease are all neurological diseases that manifest themselves in different ways. Despite accelerating scientific progress in recent decades, these diseases are still a mystery. And with an aging population, the number of people affected by neurological diseases will rise considerably in the years to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using big data to curb neurological disease<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If we want to make major progress in our fight against neurological disease, we need to change our approach. That\u2019s why the CHUM<\/a><\/strong> created the SERVO: a one-of-a-kind initiative aiming to better understand, prevent and treat these diseases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SERVO combines renowned scientific expertise with artificial intelligence (AI) and connected objects to collect, read and analyze data from the CHUM\u2019s neurology department and clinical departments such as neuroimaging and neurophysiology. Using ultra-powerful statistical tools, this medical data will be translated into critical insights that will drive research and development for new treatment approaches<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

TD<\/a><\/strong> is determined to contribute to tangible, forward\u2011thinking changes for all Canadians and is supporting this priority project in our major fundraising campaign with a donation of $500,000. Teams will be able to take early action, deliver targeted treatments to their patients and act faster than neurological disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
