On April 27, the soccer fields at Universit\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al (UQAM) played host to the \u201cPlay soccer to beat cancer!\u201d tournament, organized by the cancer surgeons at the Centre int\u00e9gr\u00e9 de canc\u00e9rologie du CHUM (CICC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ten teams showed up for the second edition of this friendly soccer tournament benefitting Fondation Virage and the CHUM Foundation, all of them ready to leave it all on the field to support oncology research and make a difference in the lives of cancer patients. The teams faced off in fun, relaxed matches as crowds of family and friends cheered them on, doing their part to help build a healthier future too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A community dedicated to the CHUM<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The CICC teams pitched in, with the staunch support of their loved ones, and in total nearly a hundred folks came out for this incredible initiative. Together, they scored over $30,000 to support oncology research projects at the CHUM Research Centre and cancer patient support by the Fondation Virage<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe CICC is one big family, and mutual support is close to our hearts. We know that if we want to implement practical initiatives for our patients, we need funding. That\u2019s why we felt it was important to host the soccer tournament for the second year in a row. This fundraiser will help us continue making a difference in the lives of our patients and give them a better future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
