{"id":8005,"date":"2026-08-18T04:46:25","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T08:46:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fondationduchum.com\/?p=8005"},"modified":"2026-08-14T09:13:36","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T13:13:36","slug":"bmo-supports-four-transformative-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fondationduchum.com\/en\/news\/bmo-supports-four-transformative-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"BMO commits $3.5 million to support four transformative projects"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Every day, teams at the CHUM are innovating to deliver exceptional care and help build a healthcare system that is more human, more accessible, and more sustainable.&nbsp;To support this mission,<strong>&nbsp;BMO&nbsp;<\/strong>is joining forces with the CHUM Foundation to provide a major philanthropic gift that will bring ambitious initiatives to life and help patients across Quebec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Reimagining mental health treatment<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Options continue to be limited for&nbsp;people living with mood disorders and treatment-resistant,&nbsp;substance-use conditions&nbsp;that&nbsp;don\u2019t&nbsp;respond to conventional therapies.&nbsp;With BMO&#8217;s support, the Centre for Therapeutic Innovation in Psychiatry and Related Disorders&nbsp;will accelerate the development of innovative treatments and cognitive&nbsp;behavioural&nbsp;psychotherapy.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Breaking down barriers to care<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>An emergency fund to improve access to healthcare will also be created to help&nbsp;individuals facing financial hardship receive the treatments and support they need.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Building the sustainable hospital of tomorrow<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>The&nbsp;CHUM has committed to&nbsp;sustainably&nbsp;reducing its environmental footprint and placing climate considerations at the centre of&nbsp;the&nbsp;decision-making process. BMO\u2019s donation will accelerate the rollout of concrete measures&nbsp;to foster&nbsp;a more responsible and resilient healthcare system\u2014one that protects resources and the well-being of future generations.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Advancing research<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>Finally, this gift helps support the creation of a research chair at the Universit\u00e9 de Montr\u00e9al, with the support of the Montreal Thoracic Surgery Research Foundation, chaired by Dr. Ferraro, Head of Thoracic Surgery at the CHUM.
