New ambassadors for the Guy Lafleur Fund<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The CHUM Foundation is proud to announce that Martin Lafleur<\/strong> is teaming up with new brand ambassadors to promote the Guy Lafleur Fund. Martin, son of The Flower, will be supported by none other than Guy Carbonneau<\/strong>, former Habs player and head coach and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, and Dary Laflamme<\/strong>, CEO of Boscus Canada Inc. Their wives\u2014Angelica Viapiano<\/strong>, commercial and residential real estate broker at Remax Crystal, Line Boivin<\/strong>, founder and business manager and Marl\u00e8ne Castonguay<\/strong>, retired health care professional\u2014have generously agreed to round out this dedicated team and push cancer research forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new, ambitious goal: $10 M for cancer research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Launched in 2021, the Guy Lafleur Fund has so far raised $3.7 million<\/strong> toward its goal of $5 million. Its ambassadors are keenly aware of the ever-greater needs for cancer research funding, so they have chosen to be ambitious, raise their goal to $10 million<\/strong> and double down on the Fund\u2019s support for personalized medicine. They are dreaming big and trust that the public will heed their call to support the cause that Guy Lafleur cared so deeply about: the fight against cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crucial donations for personalized medicine in oncology research<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All donations to the Guy Lafleur Fund go directly to cancer research at the CHUM Research Centre, a cause that was near and dear to the hockey legend and remains so for Quebecers everywhere. Under Dr. R\u00e9jean Lapointe\u2019s leadership<\/strong>, the Centre\u2019s researchers, epidemiologists and clinicians have pooled their efforts to establish a personalized oncology care program<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grants for innovative research projects in oncology<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On December 9, 2024, the CHUM Research Centre\u2019s personalized medicine program in oncology unveiled four promising research projects<\/strong> at an exclusive event, each receiving a grant of $250,000<\/strong>. These were the first four grants awarded by the Guy Lafleur Fund since its founding in 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
