The CHUM Foundation Announces the Winners of the Grand Prize Draw on Behalf of the CHUM Research Centre

This year, the CHUM Foundation is showing up for research with its Grand Prize Draw on behalf of the CHUM Research Centre, the research centre that works to benefit all Quebecers. With the support of local partners, the initiative was a chance for Quebecers to be drawn at random to win $500,000 in prizes and, today, the CHUM Foundation is proud to announce the six winners.

On Tuesday, June 15, the draw came to a close, marking the end of the CHUM Foundation’s campaign to raise funds for the CHUM Research Centre. The campaign was launched in April and offered supporters who bought a $10 ticket by June 3 a chance to win the choice between a condo in Montréal’s Quartier des Spectacles or a $300,000 cash prize, in addition to five secondary prizes. The winners’ names were drawn at the CHUM Research Centre’s Agora at 6 p.m. on June 15, in the presence of host Annie-Soleil Proteau, CHUM Foundation President and CEO Julie Chaurette, and Researcher in neuroscience at the CHUM Research Centre Martine Tétreault.

The CHUM Foundation would like to congratulate Louise Collard (ticket #204158), a dedicated employee of the health care network who won the grand prize, as well as the winners of the secondary prizes: Sylvie Boos (ticket #189314), who won the Jacuzzi hot tub, Michèle Malo (ticket #2163), who won the residential garage redesign, Harold Lespérance (ticket #218565), who won the $15,000 JC Perreault gift card, Richard Drouin (ticket #215634), who won the lease of a Volvo car, and Mike Mathieu (ticket #228530), who won the Premium QC package.

Coming together to support research at the CHUM

The CHUM Research Centre, the largest biomedical and health research centre at Université de Montréal and one of the most prominent in Canada, is a world-renowned facility that attracts the very best researchers from all over the globe. With every ticket Quebecers bought for the CHUM Foundation’s Grand Prize Draw, they helped the centre continue to do what it does best. By supporting research at the CHUM, we are investing in a better future for us all. If one thing has been made clear in the recent past, it is the importance of research in all of our lives. With the funds raised by the Grand Prize Draw, the Centre will be able to acquire new cutting-edge technologies that will lead to discoveries with the power to change the lives of all Quebecers.

“We are immensely grateful for this outpouring of support, and I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who bought a ticket,” says Dr. Vincent Poitout, Director of Research at the CHUM and Scientific Director at the CHUM Research Centre. “Quebecers are lucky to have a research centre like the one we have at the CHUM, with projects so diverse that, surely, there is something that touches each of our futures.”

Local partners who are not afraid to give

From the beginning, the CHUM Foundation has surrounded itself with local partners, and that choice has more than paid off. Not only are all Grand Prize Draw prizes from Quebec companies, but our many other partners are also jewels in our province’s crown. This has been a difficult year for all of us, but we are heartened by the solidarity that has rallied people around the campaign and across the province.

“We made the deliberate choice to partner with local companies,” says Julie Chaurette, President and CEO of the CHUM Foundation. “The CHUM Research Centre is the research centre of all Quebecers. We were determined to build relations with caring, devoted partners that share our values.”

The CHUM Foundation would like to thank Imperia Condominiums and its partners Quebecor, DevMcGill and Omnia, who supported our ambitious fundraising from the very beginning and donated the grand prize. We would also like to thank Metro for selling our tickets at their locations across the province, as well as Engel & Völkers, McGill Real Estate, Groupe BMR and Lefebvre & Benoît, whose sales force stepped up to the plate for us. A massive thank you also goes out to the wonderful companies who contributed our secondary prizes, for a total of over $80,000: Club Piscine Super Fitness, Espace Garage Plus, Groupe Park Avenue, JC Perreault, Jean Coutu Group, Metro and Videotron. Finally, the CHUM Foundation would like to acknowledge the commitment of Importations Edika and Bicycles Quilicot, who enhanced the welcome package for the grand prize.
