$17,970 raised for the 4th edition of the d'Art et d'espoir concert-exhibition

The 4th edition of the D’art et d’espoir concert-exhibit, held October 6 at the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy, raised a total of $17,970. Organized by Dr. Frank Schwenter, a digestive surgery specialist at the CHUM, this benefit event unites art and music in the fight against digestive cancer.

Art and music in service of health

Attendees perused the illustrations of cartoonist Robert Marcel Lepage, who was treated by Dr. Schwenter for colorectal cancer some years ago. Ever since, Lepage has exhibited his work at each edition of this event, charting his healing process through illustrations. The musical portion of the event had attendees listening to the strains of Dr. Schwenter himself on the cello, in a duo with pianist Claire Ouellet, another mainstay of the event each year.

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in Canada, accounting for approximately 12% of all new cancer diagnoses. Preventive screening and research advances are essential tools in the fight against it. Dr. Schwenter and Robert Marcel Lepage’s initiative brings real hope to patients with digestive cancer.
