On 23 September, urologic oncologist Paul Perrotte and cardiologist Pierre Laramée took to their bikes and rode the 275 kilometres between Montréal and Québec City, joined by a plucky band of about 15 other cyclists. These cyclists, and the hundred or so donors who support them each year, went the extra mile for this 12th edition of Doc-Vélo, raking in $156,950 to support the CHUM and its teams.
Doc-Vélo participants see the event as much more than just a bike challenge. People from all walks of life, including doctors, CHUM employees and challenge-driven cyclists, came together for a shared goal: to push themselves to the limit in support of all CHUM patients.
“Covering 275 kilometres in a day is tough, but it’s nothing next to what people with life-altering diseases have to go through. Our bodies may tire along the way, but our will to give our all for our patients never falters.”

Making the long haul for health
The two CHUM doctors drew on their Tour de Lance and Tour de Tremblant experience to create Doc-Vélo and raise funds for the Foundation. Their deep commitment to the cause is a way to pay tribute to the incredible strength and courage of all the patients who come through their doors.
“A heartfelt thanks goes out to all the organizers and cyclists who, once again, took on this weighty challenge. Doc-Vélo has grown into a classic fundraiser to support the Foundation. Your dedication is truly an inspiration and a beacon of hope!”
Pascale Bouchard, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHUM Foundation
Since its inception, Doc-Vélo has raised over $1.2 million to help the CHUM teams go the whole distance, just like our cyclists. This invaluable support spurs progress and brings the teams closer to their objectives, with the ultimate goal of providing the best care possible.
