On October 20, the highly anticipated second edition of the Grand Banquet de l’extraordinaire, raised an incredible $1.3 million for the future of the CHUM and its excellent care. These funds will go to purchasing cutting‑edge technology equipment, improving care services and implementing world-class research initiatives, among other things.
“The CHUM is an innovative, ambitious hospital, guided by its vision of modern medicine as personalized, preventive, predictive and participative. Fundraisers like these are so important, as the money raised goes directly to supporting medical breakthroughs, infrastructure, knowledge-building and much more.”
Dr. Fabrice Brunet, President and CEO of the CHUM
“What’s so extraordinary is the strength of the CHUM’s generous, invested community. To everyone who helped make this unforgettable evening such a success, thank you for believing in the talented, passionate people that work at the CHUM. Thank you for encouraging their curiosity and their ingenuity. Thank you for appreciating their devotion and helping them help their patients, the real winners in all of this.”
Pascale Bouchard, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHUM Foundation
An ode to beauty and the ophthalmology department teams
With over 450 guests in attendance, “an ode to beauty” was the theme for this year’s artistic and culinary experience—already one of Montréal’s hottest philanthropic events. The goal was to celebrate the incredible work performed at the CHUM, and particularly within the department of ophthalmology.
It was an evening of incredible food crafted by renowned chefs Darren MacLean and Baptiste Peupion, captivating performances by Quebec-based singer-songwriter Matt Holubowski and contemporary dance duo Willow, a touching account from a CHUM patient, and several other surprises.
Pomerleau was proud to present the Bourse de l’extraordinaire to the ophthalmology department teams. Guests also got to learn more through an exhibit that paid tribute to ophthalmology, presented by Alcon.
“On behalf of all of us in the ophthalmology department, thank you for this honour. Over the course of my career at the CHUM, I’ve seen with my own eyes the tremendous transformation ophthalmology has undergone, and I can tell you that it’s in large part thanks to donors like you. We are a leader in this field because of years of investment, especially philanthropic investments.”
Dr. Salim Lahoud, head of the CHUM’s ophthalmology department
