We would like to extend a warm thank you to our donors, volunteers, employees and partners. Without their dedication and determination, we wouldn’t have been able to raise an impressive $406,847,246 since our Foundation’s first day on May 1, 1998.

25 years rallying the community behind the CHUM
The CHUM Foundation was born out of the merger of Hôtel-Dieu de Montréal, Hôpital Notre-Dame and Hôpital Saint-Luc and their respective foundations. The Foundation’s loyal community of donors has been the greatest driving force behind the CHUM, one of North America’s largest teaching hospitals. You help us provide the CHUM with a complementary source of funding to drive innovation, spur its technological development and excel in care, research and teaching.
Achievements that shape the future of healthcare
Your solidarity over the years has done more than help us build the new CHUM, a great source of collective pride—it has also made us a healthcare leader, always at the forefront of knowledge and innovation.
- Leading-edge care and equipment
With your support, the CHUM has acquired technology such as the fourth-generation MIS da Vinci robot, the world’s most advanced high-precision laparoscopic surgery platform, and the C-arm imaging system, used for cardiac, vascular, neurological and orthopedic surgery. In addition, the CHUM’s radiology team is one of the first teams in the world to use a dual-energy CT. Your support also made it possible for the CHUM to set up one-of-a-kind expertise centres like the Cardio F clinic and the Centre d’expertise en diabète. - Promising research projects
Your donations have led to scientific breakthroughs in fighting brain cancer, muscular dystrophy, the human immunodeficiency virus, depressive disorders and many other conditions. Also, since 2012, research chairs in several fields such as orthopedics, osteoarthritis, breast cancer, hepatology and family medicine have been funded by your donations. - Teaching and training
Your generosity also supports the CHUM’s role as a teaching hospital, especially with post-doctoral scholarships, which make it possible for young professionals to bring back knowledge from prestigious international institutions and for world-class physicians to practice at the CHUM.
In addition, back in 2020, you helped us create the COVID-19 emergency fund, a key initiative in helping the CHUM’s care teams and researchers respond to the pandemic. We needed help and you stepped up with free meals, treats, kind words and donations for our research work—and we couldn’t be more grateful.

Traditional medicine has reached its limits in many fields, and we urgently need to find another way forward. Your donations help the CHUM’s teams to approach every challenge as an opportunity to tackle disease in five priority areas: cancer, cardiometabolic diseases, immunopathology, mental health and neuroscience.
