The CHUM Foundation wants to raise $ 150,000 for the health network

Montréal, June 14, 2023 – Today is the official launch of the Generations Challenge, a unique philanthropy movement that rallies several hospital foundations across the province, covering 9 regions, 12 CISSSs, CIUSSSs and university hospital centres. The Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM) Foundation is joining this massive fundraising event with the goal of collectively raising $1 million to support our hospitals so that they can offer safe quality care on the cutting edge of technology.

Josée Lavigueur, the event’s spokesperson since its inception, is inviting all Quebecers, from every generation, to join in this movement.

Goal: To raise $ 150,000 for the CHUM

By joining the movement, the CHUM Foundation hopes to raise the funds needed to help the CHUM and its research center teams innovate and push the boundaries of medicine to benefit all patients and their families.

“If these past few years have shown us anything, it’s the importance of the work our incredibly dedicated health professionals do. Now, it’s our turn to support them back, and the Generations Challenge is a great way for us to band together and make a bigger difference.”

— Pascale Bouchard, President and Chief Executive Officer of the CHUM Foundation

By taking part in this inclusive Québec-wide event, accessible to everyone, citizens can choose a way to push their limits while enrolling family and friends in raising donations on the Foundation’s crowdfunding platform.  The challenges can be related to sports, or anything else—there are lots of inspiring examples featured on the website for the event at generationschallenge.com. No matter how they choose to push their limits, participants will be helping the CHUM respond to their most pressing needs!

Solidarity, a guarantee of optimal impact

The Generations Challenge is much more than an event. It’s the biggest fundraising movement in support of our hospitals. It’s a societal initiative that’s part of a broader desire to transform health care and create a more efficient health network.

Hospital foundations are crucial government allies in improving access to care by offering more research, more innovation and greater patient well-being. These foundations play a vital role in helping to invest in projects that reduce surgery wait times and hospital stays, not to mention improving equipment, training and innovation.

Registration is open! Join this huge wave of solidarity with our hospitals that will be sweeping across Québec until September 23, thanks to the support of precious sponsors—including our media partner, Québecor.

“It’s been a year of major changes in the health network. We’re continuing to deploy the vision of our health and social services Plan, which is to create a network that is more humane and more efficient. I want to applaud this initiative of several hospital foundations across the territory. It’s amazing to see that we can all rally together to offer the best health care in Québec.”

– Christian Dubé, Minister of Health

There’s no such thing as a bad idea! It can be as simple as committing to reading one book a week, doing yoga every morning, or organizing a garbage pick-up operation… Every goal counts in making a difference!”

– Josée Lavigueur, Spokesperson for the Generations Challenges
