THE COVID-19 EMERGENCY FUND FUELING INNOVATION
You responded in great number to our exceptional request for financial support for the COVID-19 Emergency Fund. Thanks to you, our many specialists were able to produce innovative and inspiring results that benefitted thousands of CHUM patients.
Here is what your donations made possible.
610
researchers at the CHUM Research Centre benefitted from your support for their respective research projects
Thanks to you, the research teams of M. Andrés Finzi, Ph.D and Dr. Nathalie Grandvaux were able to leap into action in the race against the clock and pivot their work to concentrate on COVID-19 research. For example, Dr. Grandvaux is aiming to develop new antiviral strategies for treating COVID-19 patients. Her work facilitates response to the current situation, as well as preparations for dealing with future respiratory viruses.
250
smart devices made available to patients to reduce loneliness and isolation
The pandemic brought to the forefront issues that are proven contributors to early death: loneliness and social isolation. Thanks to you, the CHUM could respond to this need by providing 250 smart devices to encourage human contact between hospital patients and their loved ones, thus promoting healing and reducing anxiety in families.
Gérard LeBoeuf, a survivor who trusted CHUM personnel with his life during a rough battle with COVID-19, and new donor to the CHUM Foundation.
14
UV-C light robots were purchased to facilitate hospital disinfection
Thanks to you, the CHUM was able to purchase 14 UV-C light robots, for limiting the spread of viruses, which saves lives. Their ability to destroy viruses and bacteria, while limiting how many chemicals are required for disinfection, is crucial in our battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. These lamps also reduce disinfection time by thirty minutes per room.
